I like the Browning A bolt. They have the best selection of calibers for lefties.

Mine's a Stainless stalker, too. Very nice gun. Wish they made one on short action for us lefties.
I know what the theory behind the boss is, but it looks like a big compensator to me. I can get 2-3 groups at 200 so I can't imagine having a boss would make THAT much difference.

the 700 is one of the all time greats, that is for sure. Good luck getting a model 70 now. Ever since the USRA factory closed, They are hot hot hot. Not too long ago I sold a model 70 for $1000 where I probably couldn't have gotten $600 two years ago.
Until that cools down, stick with either the A bolt or the 700 for now. Unless you have a problem with saving money then get a Mauser or a Blaser.

i have yet to find the "sweet spot" on mine i just set it on what the little book says to and leave it at that i my self dont need 1/4 groups to kill a deer [snuff can at 200 yards is plenty for me]
haha i tell the guys at the camp the boss was invented so that if u miss u can sneak up on the deer because its SO loud it will deafen the deer

It has got to be the legendary model 70 pre-64 winchester. This was the riflemens rifle. Hell I thought winchester closed the doors in 1964 with the crap they put out after that date. As for the B.O.S.S which stands for ballistic optimizing shooting system it does and will work if you have the time to play with it. True there is a CR model and a reduced recoil model which is the ported one most people use. The CR one stands for conventional recoil. Now basically the principle is tune or dampen your barrel vibration to the correct node and now you have uniformity which is the key to accuracy. But you have to make sure your barrel is free floated at least 2 inches from the barrel junction to the muzzle.
Other notable mention 700 remingtion, Savage 110 series, Browning A-Bolt, Ruger M=77 Mark 2, and an oldie but goldy the legendary Muaser 1898 of course sporterized.

anything remington is my choice. They are the oldest gun maker in America and it shows. Remington model 700 second to none.
