These so called "shotguns" with the rifled barrel by definion are actually rifles in shotgun gauges! Most states have the shotgun deer season becuase rifles go out to far, yet the "shotguns" are capable of the same thing! For example a .410 "slug gun" can launch a 1/4 oz. slug with the pwer of a 30/06 under 50 yards!! And a 12 ga. has more power than that!!

I might be COMPLETELY WRONG about this but it doesn' make sence in my mind. :D  :D

yes it is true they have just as much or more knock down power but i would bet that not many deer have been killed with a rifled shotgun out past 100yards,,,,,and with a standard rifle like a 7 mag or 270 whatever deer can be taken at well over 350 yards

WELL I DONT KNOW HOW THE HUNTING IS EVERYWHERE ELSE BUT AROUND HERE YOUR NOT GOING TO GET A 100 YARD SHOT OFF IN THE "WOODS" ITS MAINLY 15 -50 YARDS SO SHOTGUNS ARE GREAT

I MYSELF HAVE NEVER FIGURED OUT WHY PPL WILL CARRY A 270-7 MAG-30 06 INTO THICK WOODS BUT WE DO WHEN A SHOTGUN IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED
AND YES I AM ONE OF THE ONES WHO WILL CARRY A 7 MAG INTO A THICKET AND GET MAD WHEN I CANT GET A SHOT OFF AT THE DEER WHEN HE JUMPS AND BOLTS OFF

aint never hunted no wood thickets for deer,,,but i have hunted in colorado, montana, wyoming, and arizona and Utah,,,,,and yeah u could kill a lil forked horn buck with a shotgun,,,,but u aint gunna get the bigguns in that close very often....it can be done and i have actually managed to pattern one over the course of a week and get in pretty damn close.....but i still aint gunna hunt the big country with anything smaller than a 270 u never know when ur gunna glass a monster at 300 yards or so and have noway to get any closer...i need something that i can rely on to make a shot like that....
