.221 fireball necked down to .17 caliber... It will prolly only be as popular as the .221 was/is. lol With the velocity jump that the 17 mach 2 has over a 22 long, then id believe this .17 fireball prolly can reach 4000fps. Would be fun to shoot :D

Yea, and it's a .17 caliber that you can reload too!
Of course, I'll just stick to the .17HMR.

crap, all it is is a 17 Remington, which has been around since the 70's i believe. its not new, the ammo might be offered in a mew loading but its basicly a 17 Remington...

You have to wonder how accurate this round is. One of the things I've found is that you can put too much charge behind the slug which can reduce accuracy. What happens is that the charge is so powerful that it will literally warp the slug as it travel down the barrel. By the time it exits the muzzle, it is out of round enough to not fly true.

I swear some of these rounds are little more than gimmicks designs just to sell guns and ammo rather than actually do a job well, be it hunt or target shoot.

Like I said, some rounds were designed just to generate income, not solve problems.

The .17 fireball has been around for quite a while. It was just commercialized. If I remember correctly it was called a .17 mach iv.

Basically many years ago remington took a .222 and shortened it up and reformed the neck and shoulder to fit into a short bolt action pistol. It was called a .221 fireball. A .222 is basically just short .223.

The .17 remington is basically a .223 necked down to .17. They were fun to shoot and could reach speeds that the bullet would break up in flight with reloads. I just hated the fact that you were always having to clean them if you wanted accuracy. You could also shoot the bores out relatively easily.

The .17 fireball has a lot more power and range than a .17 HRM and a little less power than a .17 Rem. High priced ammo.....low recoil and little pelt damage.
