Can someone help me with understanding skeet and trap?

I am thinking of starting but don't know what type of gun or anything about it.

Trap shooting can make a real good shot out of you! Spend some time and make sure you get a shotgun that fits you right. If you are primarily getting a shotgun to shoot skeet with try one of the smaller guages but if you are planning to do a lot of hunting with it to you may want to stay with that one shotgun. Any way enjoy it! Its a good relatively inexpensive sport.

With trap shooting your usually standing on a platform above the trap machine. The clay birds come out from under where you stand.
Skeet shooting has 8 stations from where you shoot, a high house and a low house where the clays fly out of. You shoot then move to the next station and so on.
Most of the great skeet shooters I know say the 28 gauge is the best for skeet and trap shooting. I use a 12ga. myself but I have only one gauge and don't shoot enough skeet to buy a special gun just for that but I would like to buy a 28ga. someday.

ive shot quite a bit of skeet however the only reason i shoot any is to try and knock the rust off for mtn quail season and it helps a ton....i aint got no fancy skeet gun or anything i just shoot the remington 1100 20ga i hunt with...

I think skeet is better for hunting and hunters than trap. if you watch a real trap shooter it is just anticipation and reaction. Where as skeet you have to acquire the target and follow it.

Hey nothing wrong with a Rem 1100. Damn good gun, just about indestructable, reliable as all get out and pretty easy to fix if you ever need to get it fixed. I know, I sell fancy target guns and my favorite is still a sweet 16 A5.

Unless your shooting a wobble trap. Although I'd agree it's still esaier than skeet.

Never shot at one of them. What it is? I've only ever shot out of a stationary trap house.

A wobble trap is the same thing but the trap thrower will wobble around after each shot so the clay birds will come out at a different place like up high or low, right or left. You won't know where it will come from so it's alittle more fun than regular trap shooting.

Sounds like fun. Never done it, Think it would be more fun than trap. I've done 5 stand and sporting clays and that is quite a challenge.

Yea, I hear sporting clays are fun shooting. I've never tried that.

ive shot trap for 2 or 3 years now.theres 5 stations. all of our houses ive shot at are about the same height as you. i have a beretta gold that custom fitted to me with the cheek plate and butt plate.
