I think this is a hypocriticle law--Here in Indiana we are not allowed to use centerfire rifles for deer, BUT are allowed to use centerfire rifles for varmint :? does that seem odd to anyone.

Th law doesnt "say" you cant use a .22lr but we can use any shotgun bigg1r than a .410 and smaller than a 10 ga.+we are allowed pistols bigger than .243

does indiana have laws for types of guns u can carry at night???
here in mississippi no rifle larger than a 22lr
and no shotgun can have larger shot than #6

i think they are trying to figure out something to do with the 17 now

the 17 rimfires are legal here in mississippi at nights for coon and varmits. they have hashed this out quite abit over on their message board, but david d. the wildlife officer supervisor called jackson to get a final word on the issue and they told him it is a legal night time cartridge. this goes for the .17 HMR and the .17 HMR2

call david deonalles at the brookhaven office. he will give you the info. i will call him and give my .02 for the use of it. heck i wish they would let you use a .22 magnum. i would rather hunt coyotes with a .22 mag anyhow. i use a .22lr pistol for coon so it doesn't matter to me. but i think other should be able to use the larger if they want to.

Here in Indiana starting during the 2007-2008 deer season they are legalizing rifles. This is pretty set in stone right now but there are some restrictions (The size of bullet used is the major restriction not sure on the exact regulation). They had been talking about it for a while and finally have passed it for as far as i know, I have talked to a couple gun shop owners about it and read about it in a Indiana DNR publication.

As far as the 06-07 deer season went here in Indiana the law did state the only legal weapons for harvesting a deer were bows (in early archery), shotguns, some pistols and muzzleloaders (during firearms season) muzzleloaded weapons (in muzzlelaoder season) and bows and cossbows (during late archery)
