i have and used alot of different guns..my favorite is the 1 i been usin its a remington 59722lr synthetic. with a scope..its light gun and very accurate..not a flash gun so your not afraid to use it. match that gun with some good cci ammo and the ol coon just drop.

Depends on what your looking for.... light, accurate, and the action of your choice.
I myself like to use a short, light, 22 single shot .. Put it on a sling across your back and dont even know its there.

Lot of different types of gun out there. A remington nylon can be a good choice but because of the value I don't use mine.
Bolt action remington 581 or an older model marlin glenfield bolt action model 25 both shoot accurate use a clip that can be kept in your pocket and shoot 22 long rifle, longs, or short ammo with good accuracy.
Used the remington 581 approx $200 and the Marlin used can be found for under $100.
I'm currently using a mosberg plinkster modle 702. Black plastic stock semi auto 10 shot clip and with 4 power scope weight is under 5 lbs. very Light. Buy one at walmart for about $90. With scope and all under $130.
I know several fellas that use the ruger 10/22 semi auto and it is a good accurate reliable rifle as well.
Good luck don

I have a ruger 10/22 with a 3-9x40 scope. 6, 10 rd clips. All I do is grab the gun, a couple of clips and I'm good for the night. Light weight and very accurate, very dependable. I dropped it in the river one night, took me about 1 hr to find it. When I did, just dumped water out of the barrel, ran two shots through it and called it good. Probably on of the most dependable .22 cal guns on the market. I'm getting a 17hm2 barrel for it before next season.

Whatever gun is closest to the door on the way out. It will always be a .22 LR because I'm cheap, and can buy 550 rounds of them for same same price as 50 .17 hmr's. Not near as loud either.

i would use the ruger 10/22 also it is the most reliable semi auto 22 i have ever used i get the federal hollow points from wallmart a box of 550 is like 10.00 bucks and it will shoot all day i have fired over 10,000 rounds through my 10/22 and not cleaned it without any trouble and then then i cleaned it just because not because it was to dirty to operate i could have not cleaned 4 a few more years and had not trouble with it i always recomend a 10/22

I use a ruger single six pistol, but not everone can shoot a pistol straight in the day light might alone try it at night. The main reason I like using my pistol is it gives me two hands to work with. I painted my sights with flouesent orange then put my daughters glow in the dark finger nail polish on them. But if you dont go this route I would most diffently suggest the 10-22 then but fiber optics on it so you can see your open sights better.
