thats funny that ex police officer said that. all our cops here have crimson trace grip lasers on there gun for for the simple fact that its easier to point and shoot. you dont have to take the time to aim. it also works great for "around the corner" shots again because no aiming is involved. i am in the process of getting on the department here and have had a chance to fire it personally. after about an hour of practice i was hitting everything i pointed at... and fast.
different strokes for different folks but i defently want one on my gun.
the only down fall i see in lasers is batteries failing. but if the laser doesnt work you can always use the sites.

I would imagine he would feel different if he trained on them. He said it was very effective in PREVENTING a shootout, though. Seeing that bright red dot on your chest pretty much stops them in their tracks. Never having used one myself, I really dont' feel one way or another. Wouldn't mind trying though!

Anyone use them for coon hunting? I was wondering how they would work as far as shineing a coon with a spotlight, are you still able to still see the red dot with the light on the coon? Was thinking that a Mark III Ruger pistol with Cimsen trace grips would make a very nice coon hunting gun. Thanks

The laser point is going to wiggle the same as the crosshairs on a scope or a reddot. the laser point just seems more sensitive, cause you can see point of impact, scope, reddot, or laser, sighted in are exactly the same. i like reddots, only cause i can't hunt with a laser in p.a....don't worry, you can shine the tree and use the laser...jsb
