From my experience, cheaper is better.Just make sure that if you have a scope on the gun you set the scope with the ammo you're gonna use to hunt.I buy Federal hollow points at Wal-Mart for 9.99 for 550 rounds.Seems the hollow points expand alot quicker and don't leave exit holes that often. And when choosing your gun, remember that you're gonna beat it up and have to carry it thru God knows what and you don't need a nice, expensive, heavy gun.I built a Remington 597 .22,put a bull barell on it, and even had a thumbhole stock custom made for it,and put a high dollar scope on it.By the time I got done with it, it was so heavy, and I had so much money tied up in it, I didn't want to carry it in the woods.I think you can get a Mossberg semi-auto with a scope at Wal-Mart for around $90 bucks. My friend has one,and it weighs around 2 lbs.

that is the one i was looking at getting.

It works really well. The only problem I can remember out of it is that he didn't put any loctite on the scope mount screws and the scope fell off a few times, but we fixed that. The best thing is, you don't feel like you've been carrying a railroad tie thru the woods all night.I'd also probably trash the BB gun scope that comes with it, but that's a matter of opinion.I think a gun is only as good as the scope on it.

I use either a Ruger Single Six or a 10/22. Depends on how froggy I am felling at the time.

Ruger 10/22 stainless synthetic. Fairly light and low maintenance

I don't use it for hunting, but I have a browning BL-22 that I love. Just one quirk, though. Shoots low and I can't adjust the rear sight. I'll probably pick up an adjustable and install it. shoots really tight groups, though. For small game I use a Browning BPS 20 gauge and later in the season I use a Benelli Super black eagle.

Those Rugers are awesome though. Everything they make is top quality.

i just bought one of those cricket .22s from walmart. super light-weight, very durable, and pretty cheap. i paid rite at $100 for it brand new. the only thing i dont like is how the sights are set up, but ill probably put a scope on it.

If it's got a peep sight, it works better than you would think at night. That is unless you already used it at night and still don't like it. As long as you don't actually shine the gun itself, you can see pretty well through it. Just my opinions and suggestions. :D

We use the same gun with a scope on it. Works pretty good.
