Have you seen the new .17 rifle. My buddy has one was going to the gun shop to look at one today. The shell holds twice as powder as a .22 LR. With lead shaped like a 30/30. haven't shot one yet but was impressed with the look of it. I plan on looking into it today. i'll let ya'll know what i find out.

I gotta ask the question, eventhough I am opening myself up for bashing and Smart-ass remarks. Why are so-called coon hunters getting on here and bragging about tresspassing and shooting coons out of season? I hear all the time how coon hunters get a bad reputation and are running out of places to hunt, or are facing tougher legislation. Well, you don't think the opposition doesn't have a case if their are people out there violating the laws and people's rights to own their own property. It is sad when I have to screen everything on here before I let my 8 yr old son look over my shoulder and read articles on this forum, because I don't want him to think it is okay to disregard both laws and trespassing signs.

As far 22 rounds, CCI Stingers during the regular season, and I keep a box of them in my coat pocket beside the signed permission slip of the landowner.

P.S. I have knocked on many of doors to ask to retreive my dog, because he went on other property I didn't have permission to hunt, key phrase " I asked permission".

I've found that the Federal 22's seem to be the most accurate, I get the best groups at the range with them.

You can NOT out-do the CCI Stingers. They will outshoot and outkill any .22 round out there. But they are a little more expensive than the walmart cheap ones... But they're still not bad. Check them out... Go buy a bunch of boxes of different .22 roudns and shoot them through your gun.. You might find out that your rifle likes one the best. Use that one. My old Marlin Lever-action sure loves those Stingers.
