At a local store they have about 10 M44's for sale for $99, they come with all the neat stuff too. Anyone have and shoot one of these. I would like to have it as a brush/backup rifle. Plus with the cheap ammo it could be a fun plinker.

Any thoughts on the subject are appreciated.

My nephew has one and we had a chance to shoot it some. It had good accuracy and put holes through chunk of 15 inch wide telephone pole we were using for a target backstop. Only thing I would say is keep it clean, that ammo is more corrosive and if left uncleaned you won't have much of a rifle left. Goes without saying for any rifle I guess.

I bagged an elk and at least 5 deer with mine. If you have the right rifle, with good bullets like 180 gr. Norma Percision or something in that range you can use it for anything in the United States. There is also a great possibility of reloading it as previously mentioned.
