Does anybody know the what the law states about retrieving your dogs off of posted property?Do you have to have the land owners property permission or not?And if you do what if he/she says no you can't go in to get them. And say they are in their treed and you can't call them out.

Shelbo that don't answer my question.Because at the end of 9-11-242 it says This section shall not apply to raccoon or opossum hunting with dogs only. All I want to know is can I get a ticket or jail time if my dogs go onto posted property and I go in their unarmed to get them with out permission.Because their isn't always someone their to ask for permission.

When it says shall not apply to coon hunting w/dogs. I am assuming that means your are not at fault or liable as long as you dont have have a gun or squaller, probably providing that you do have permission reasonably close to the property your dog is on.

I had that problem about a month ago. My dogs treed on a mans land and I didnt have permission to go onto it ( actually he told me he would shoot me if I did) I called the game warden and told him that my dogs were treed there. Come to find out they were trapped in an old chicken house after I drove closer to see. He told me to go get my dogs but do not bring anything with me but a light and a leash. he said if I hear of anyone shooting dogs that cross property lines to give him a call immediately.
