If you are an Indiana Hunter the Hoosier Tree Dog Alliance (HTDA) needs your help NOW!!! We are in a heated battle for longer running seasons. Our Opposition is a small group of deer hunters known as the Indiana Deer Hunters Association (IDHA). They are trying to block a proposal by the HTDA to extend coonhound running in Indiana. The IDHA is trying to say that dog running will hurt the deer hunting.

The HTDA is the only group in this fight that has presented scientific fact that states that coonhound running does not effect deer movements.

Here is what your HTDA needs from YOU. If you DEER HUNT call the number below, email the address below and let the DNR know that the IDHA does not represent you. In particular, DOUG ALLMAN, does not represent you. DOUG ALLMAN, is the mouth piece for two deer hunting groups. He is making false accusations of coonhunters, stating that they are tresppassers, fish and wildlife violators, fence cutters etc. The groups ALLMAN represents has members that have stated in open forums and DNR meetings that they will SHOOT YOUR COONHOUND, SQUIRREL DOG, or ANY DOG that interferes with their deer hunting. These groups have stated on their message forum that they are justified to SHOOT YOUR DOG and the IDHA has not stepped up to condemn the practice.

Key members of the IDHA have also stated that they will fight to REDUCE the amount of time we can run our coonhounds if we do not accept their conditions of a compromise. Their compromise is to open up the two weeks in February only.

DOUG ALLMAN has also condemned the DNR officials that have supported the HTDA and the proposal to extend running season. ALLMAN has condemend Senator Bob Jackman and Representative Bill Friend who support the HTDA and their current proposal.

The HTDA needs YOUR HELP now to discredit DOUG ALLMAN. He claims he represents DEER HUNTERS. Does he represent you? If not call the DNR and tell them. Send them an email and tell them. NOW is the time for action. Today, not tommorrow. The HTDA has a meeting that we will attend on Dec 1st. ALLMAN will be there spreading his lies and fighting against your freedoms to free cast dogs in the State of Indiana.

We want to flood the DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife with calls and emails. Here is how to do it:

If you are calling:

1.Call the Number below and ask for Glenn Salmon or Wayne Bivens.
2.Be polite and simply STATE THAT YOU ARE A DEER HUNTER.
3.Give them your DEER HUNTING LICENSE NUMBER
4.Tell them you support the HTDA and the current proposal to eliminate all running season restrictions for coonhounds.
5.This is very important Tell them that DOUG ALLMAN DOES NOT REPRESENT YOU OR YOUR VIEWS AS A DEER HUNTER.

If you email:

1.In the subject heading title your message "Coonhound Running Season Supporter"
2.In the text, address Director Glenn Salmon and Wayne Bivens
3.List the information above.

Again I say Now is the time to act. If you know people that you deer hunt with that would support us give them this info as well. The IDHA has turned this into an dirty, ugly fight. We, the HTDA will reamin on course to take the high road, but we desperately need your help. We believe that all sporting groups can coexist and would like to be able to work with deer hunters for a better Indiana. However, the Indiana Deer Hunters Association has taken upon themselves to represent all deer hunters. The IDHA is has a very small membership and a very loud voice, It's time Tree Dog enthusiasts pull together and show then we can come together and have some views as well.

Here is the contact information:

Division of Fish and Wildlife
402 W. Washington St. W273
Indianapolis, IN 46204-2781
Phone: 317-232-4080
Fax: 317-232-8150
dfw@dnr.IN.gov

Please don't just respond here, take a few minutes and help your sport. As long as the Indiana Deer Hunters Association holds up progress in the DNR tree dog enthusiasts will never get a fair shake.

Thank You,
Chris Powell
President Hoosier Tree Dog Alliance
