There is a bill in both houses of the legislature known as The Dog and Cat Breeders Act. That bill is not a good one for hunting dog owners and should be defeated. The bill numbers are in the House - HF1046 and in the Senate - SF0121. Our legilators need to be contacted and informed that this bill should not be passed. I'm from Minnesota too, and I haven't heard about this bill. Could you give me the low down on basically what its all about?

The bill would require that kennels (keeping dogs for sporting purposes constitutes a kennel) be licensed and inspected. One of the things that jumped out at me right away was that dogs could not be kept on a chain. This is a way that our rights as hunters are slowly being taken away and our legislators need to know that it is unacceptable!

WHAT CAN I DO OTHER THAN WRITING A LETTER TO SOMEONE?

For now, this bill is not going anywhere. It still could be taken up again next session but it doesn't look like it will take off. If anything changes I will let you know.
