Attention all Virginia Houndsmen, you're rights are being taken away and we are not even aware of it!!! Today, I recieved a call from one of my hunting buddies and a member of the board at our local coon club and he gave me some startling news. Right now in VA, the law is that you can go onto private property to retrieve your hounds as long as you don't drive onto it or take a firearm. The lawmakers are trying to change this law. The new bill in the House will change the law and make it illegal to retrieve your hounds on private property unless you notify law enforcement before hand and they are with you when you do it. This is going to cause a serious problem. Just imagine, you are out hunting and your hounds cross a fence. You could cross and quickly get your hounds and be back in a few minutes, but if this new law passes, the law will require you to call a game warden or local police and have them escort you over to get your hound. Talk about a hunt killer!! If your local law enforcement is like the ones around here, it will be daylight by the time they get there. But there is something you can do. The Bill is up for public vote. To vote, call 1-800-889-0229 and tell them you oppose House Bill 2531. Please vote and tell everybody you know to do the same. Remember NO!! on House Bill 2531. Thanks for reading my article.
