I can tell you right now your both at least half wrong, I have a pup right now that never once back tracked. I recently hunted her with a buddy of mine, who has a nice female. Well we came across a hot coon, didn't see which it went. My pup slammed the first tree, his female who is normally pretty accurate, tracked back the other way. We couldn't find the coon in the tree my pup Treed on, so we assumed she pulled up slick because it was such a hot track. I wasn't crazy about pulling her off and sending her on, because my buddies dog, had already tracked 300yds out and in my opinion it sounded like the track was gettin colder rather then hotter, so I was suspicious of her back tracking it, but didn't say so. Well I pulled her off and sent her in the direction my buddies female went. We never did see that coon. Next time out my I bring my pup and my almost finished hound, they strike, my pup goes one way, my other dog, goes the other way and slams the tree and has the coon. A pup that takes a backtrack even close to half the time is just plain UNLUCKY. Why do you aspire that you have purchased a "higher quality " unlucky SOB that does a basic moronic thing like going backasswards? Do you wish to place yourself as the Dog Trainer?? The job that a good dog could easily do better than you could ever hope to sniff out a an assbackwards track??? Who ever taught you that a dog that trees coons will only make a pup a "mee tooer" Where did you grasp that crap from??? Bloodlines articles? Full Cry?? Why don't you quit fantasizing yourself?
