My buddy has a bluetick male that hunts great by himself but you hunt him w/other dogs and he wont back them he just keeps going until he finds his own tree. Any ideas on how to get him to come out of this?

This is not necessarily a bad thing. As long as he's treeing coon on his own, I would just let him go! If a dog is independent you don't have to worry about him backing a foolish dog on a slick or off-game tree! :)

How old is the dog??A lot of guys that hunt night hunts like dogs like that.I think you will also find.Dogs like that will hold pressure on the tree. Than dogs that like to pack up..Back when I hunted in the hunts.I liked my dogs to tree alone as much as possible. That means more plus for me..

I dont mind it either but when another dog backs him he will not tree as hard or will get down and mill around the tree or just quit treeing period.

i have a female that is like that she will tree with some dogs but mill the tree with others when they back her. i just started huntin her with a bunch of different dogs and petted her up when i got into the tree. i even shot some coon out and letted her share them with the other dogs. she used to even blow alittle at other dogs but has stopped now. she seems to have gotten alot better with strange dogs. she was started and hunted alone until 16 months which i think caused this problem but is gettin better. GOODLUCK
