You can train a dog to just about anything it's capable of through positive reinforcement. Treats and praise work wonders. I started by telling my dog to "load em up" then would lift him into the truck. After that tell him he's a good dog and pet him. Treats would work well in the place of praise or use both. Loading up to go get coons then having a successful night also works as positive reinforcement and eventually the dog will associate the truck with hunting (having fun), treats, and/or praise. All things dogs like. Eventually my dog loaded up without me having to assist. I still give him praise cause he's a good dog. Making the bed of the truck, or box comfortable is also useful. When a dog feels comfortable in "his area" he is much more likely to get up in there.

What happens when you have to use the shock collar in the woods
will the dog run back to the truck ?
I'm pretty green and haven't experienced that as a problem. I call to the dog and his hearing is much better than mine so he knows where he's supposed to be. Basic training is important before hunting. The dog should know where to go when he's called and when he doesn't behave a correction with the shock collar should get his attention. If mine were to go back to the truck i'd continue calling his name and the "corrections" would continue until he came to me. They learn real quick where they need to be when corrected.
