I have 2 male dogs that are just pets that are in one pen and i have a 11 week old female that is in another pen. you are suppose to keep them separated but what about when i let them out to play and run around will it hurt her to play with the other dogs. Also, people say that you shouldn't keep dogs together because it will bond them together and they won't want to hunt alone. Is this true or will she be fine. i am stressing out because i don't won't to ruin my new pup and don't want to start her wrong either. Any helpful tips or comments will be appriacated. Well, You want to let her play with them FOR SURE. If she is not in any contact with another dog, she will be mean or scared of them and when she is hunted with another dog she will be more interested in them than learning or paying attention to what is going on. She dosent need to become dependent on another dog but she needs to be socialized, she dosent need to be jealous of another dog to you or mean to other dogs because she will need to learn that when she is older and being put in a box or hunted with a dog she has never seen that she needs to not worry about them and stay focused instead of fighting or worrying about a dog. If she is 11 weeks old she wants to play, let her play with them. When you start her or show her a cage coon, let her do it by herself. But, I have a 6 month old that I have let it do it all by herself and she is having a problem when I let another dog at a coge coon with her. lol So, just try to find a balance, I would keep her seperate but let her play and in contact with them and other(new) dogs alot. |

I persionally would not do anything different with the hunter than the non hunters. I dont think keeping them seperate would hurt in the pen, but the more contact they have with other dogs and people the better. As long as they get along! If a dog is used to other dogs, and dont see them as a threat, it will most of the time eliminate face barkers, and general agression. As long as they get along. And show her as much attention as the others. Shes young, and she needs that. My hounds have a lot of contact with other dogs, and is a good chance to burn off energy. Just my opinion though. |

Thanks for your thoughts and i will use them because i don't want her to blow at other dogs at the tree or be aggressive. and i think that is the best thing to do because you both are right and i will use the comments thanks. |
