A guy down the road just gave me two english redticks 7 months old was just wandering what i need to do to start training or if need to wait awhile thanks
If you and the dog are comfortable, start with small drags. Make sure you have a strong bond, and have a lot of play time. Its not a race, so take your time.
'pr' wis. has some great advise .... before any training should start you and the pups have to be best of friends ... but don't let that limit you to correcting them when they are wrong ... they also need to know that you are their boss "Pack Leader". As a personal opinion I think 9 or 10 months is an ideal time to start pups ... and from there you can tell if they are done being puppies or if they are ready to start training. Good luck.

Just remember the time you spend in the woods with your hounds,is always wonderful weather they are hunting good and treeing all night long.
For me spending time with my hounds is like going fishing but with hound enjoy every night because some day you and your hound won't be able to go hunting and spend that wonderfull and full feeling as a hound at the tree or that owl in they distance or even the coyotes howling from all sides, to me there is nothing better on a good night or even a off night, but in my mind there is no such thing as a bad night every hound and every hunter who love the sport will agree if not it sucks to be the sportsmen that just does not love the woods. Remember were a dieing breed and if you love the sport you are a coon hunter and remember it's all about the dogs.
