I have a 2 1/2 year old male walker,he is a heck of a dog but every time I walk into the tree and get about 30yds from it he comes off and meets me,and then goes right back and trees,I have always tied him up as soon as i get to the tree, and I always scold him back to the tree and it is getting to be a aggravation in the hunts even though i tell the judge he does this before the hunt starts,is it a good idea to shock him when he comes off or whip him back to the tree or is there something else i should try?Any help would be appreciated.

Do you talk to him (alot) and pet him up on the tree???....That can cause some dogs to start meeting you off the tree...Have you used a shocker on him before..For other things..If so You can try that put a lighted dog collar on him .Sneak into the tree when he starts coming to you start shocking him when he gets off the tree a little ways. You want to make sure hes off the tree..Start on a low setting to start with...It should help him...It will take time to break him....At some point a guy is going to use it on you in a hunt.TO beat you...Have you placed him in any hunts yet???????..Even if you get him broke Id still tell the judge he does it..I do and mine dont leave......but it only takes once to hurt you....LOL

Grab him up and whip em back to the tree... if that does not work I recommend buying or borrowing a shock system...

what i have always done is just leash the dog and leave it tied where it came to meet me. then i walk on in to the tree. they dont like to be left out of the action and most relize very fast they miss out if they come to meet me.

Well mine had been doing the same.. I had the leash ready as I headed towards the tree.. I had a switch ready as well cause I knew what to expect.. I leashed her whipped her a few licks as I lead her to the tree.. put her up on the tree petted her up a bit an leashed her too the tree.. seemed to work well

Mr plottten, you make fun of a young mans attempt to help another ? you are very fast to downgrade others on thier advice, but I notice you're unwilling to offer any?
