if this dog is pretty young i'd just pull it off and send him on, and if he trees a coon, pet him up really good and shoot it out if possible, but with trash i usually just pull them off if they're young dogs.

3 strike rule if they get in a habbit of treein of game like it happens to be that they tree the first thing they smell shoot it down and whoop them with it and send them on their way if u let it become a problem it will always be one the catch to this is if it is a young dog you dont want to make them not tree

 if u shoot the trash out and woop him with it wont it make him scared of a coon when u shoot it out :?: and i would just pull him off he may think that every time u shoot something out he is going to get wooped but that JMO

i had a young dog would tree them, i thought he was treeing slick until one night i saw something flying around the top of the tree and it was flying squirrels. i just lead him off the tree everytime after that and fussed at him some, it wasnt long he stopped treeing them and far as i know he never treed any again.

i never beat on a dog at the tree especially a young dog i have seen alot of young dogs get messed up because of people beating them at the tree i normally do most of my trash brakeing with a shock collar but be careful with it because that can mess him up to but with the squirrels he may stop on his own. would not worry about it and just see what happens i have a dog that trees them from time to time

i have heard and believe that some times if there are them squirrels in the tree is that there is a nest of them and when a coon goes up the tree it makes them run out. just a thought for you.

I would leash dogs and lead them on as most flying squirrels are rare and coons are plentiful. Flying squirrels make a chirping whisling sound. seen them hunting at night. Feel honared as many people live their whole life with out seeing one.
