Post subject: | HELP Barking |
Hi, I adopted 2 blueticks a few years ago. One of them, Drake the male, was a trained hunting dog but now he's just my pet. He is howling non stop. I don't let him run at night but during the day hers out and about. He goes howling crazy. we are on about 5 acres in Southampton NY, but the neighbors are crazy mad at the non stop barking. I don't want to leave him inside and just walk him. What can I do? I have no experience with hunting dogs. I think the reason they got rid of him is because he's scared of loud noises. Thanks and help!! Jennifer |

He is probably howling because he wants to hunt- its what he was bred and trained to do. But you can get a no-bark collar that will shock him when he barks- usually they learn pretty fast( but they also learn when the collar is off they can still bark.) I would spend $50 and get the sport-dog. Its the best for that money. I use a dogtra, but they cost $85. Another thing that works to shut dogs up is spraying them with a hose or dousing them with water when they bark. I had one hound that I broke from kennel barking in 2 days by using water... |
