I have a 2 and a half year old pup that is about 60% accurate. This is the second kill season ive hunted him.The first season he was dead accurate and now he is starting to miss.I hunt him 3 to 4 times a week.My question is it time to give up and start a new dog or keep him in the woods. Thanks for your reply.

I have heard from several people that they go through terrible twos. My buddy dog went through some dumb stuff when he was two but he kept working him and he got past it.

If you've been huntin him that hard every week for 2 years, maybe you should lay him up for a little bit. Might be burnin him out. Most dogs do go through a spell like that tho, I usually give em a lil break and give em a chance to work through it.

Did you praise him a lot when he was doing so good? I did with my red dog. And was getting frustrated when he started slick treeing then read what john wick said about it and I think this is accurate it helped me. petting and praising some dogs is the wrong thing to do they like being praised by there handler so they get tree happy cause they like the attention when you get to the tree. I quit petting my dog at the tree no matter what and if it was slick made him find the track and finish it and it has helped drastically. hope this helps
