I think a lot of times at the feeder with pups there is so much scent they don't know what to do. my opinion take it for what its worth. if she is running and treeing by herself I would keep her in the creek bottom. let her find one herself

I have stopped hunting her on feeders but now she will hardly leave my feet. She has treed coons but only if I walk her almost to the tree. She can only be walk hunted. She does tree pretty good and she always has the coon. Showed her a cage coon the other night with some other young dogs. Turned the coon loose with a head start and the other dogs slick treed but she found the right tree but would not tree, only jump on the tree. This was only 30 yds from the other dogs. Saw two coons in a field tonight. Sent her to them and she picked up the trail and found the tree. Both coons were there and she treed really good. Shot one out and she dove right in on him. Wondering if there is any thing I could do to get her to go hunt or does she just not have the drive. She also still is not interested in other dogs at all. Will not hunt with them. About to give up on this one if I don't figure her out soon.

Sounds like she is doin pretty good. A lot of pups that age won't even tree their own coon. If I'm having trouble gettin one to leave, I will just take em huntin and sit down. Usually give em an hour or so. Most dogs will get bored and wonder off. If not load em up and go home. Try again the next night. And so on.

As far as huntin with other dogs. It's good she won't honor them. That's how you get a good "singled out tree dog".

Take her with other dogs imo, if she stays with you instead of the dogs, take her in when there Treed, and knock one out to her, I don't think it would take long for her to start going with the other dogs, sounds like she just needs her confidince built up. Once she is going with other dogs good, then you can work on getting her to go by herself.

If she trees coon though ya got something to work with, it will seem better to sell her and start over but more then likely you will end up with a pup that can't do anything and be kicking yourself for selling her.

Like someone else said training a Coondog takes alot of patience. I have a redtick that would look like a champion 1 nite and next nite have you cussing and kicking dirt. Comes with the territory. My dog will be 2 n may.

I think a lot of times with a pup you can expect them to mature into looking like the dog you see on there good nights, if you stick with them. I think our own perception can play a pretty big part as well.
