Are you cutting your dog loose on a dirt road, trail or fence rows? If I cut my bitch loose on any of they above she will run flat out till she crosses a track or winds one.
If I walk her in the timber 100 yards she'll hunt it out. But I have to get her far enough off the road or she'll go right back & run the road. Of coarse I do road hunt her sometimes in late winter.

We went out last night and treed a den a possum then the next drop treed in a hole. I walked her away turned her loose and she treed 950 yards away and it was another possum. I wasnt very happy with her last night.

Boy's I got a 3 yo B T that's an accurate as a Henry rifle. Only problem I have is she's hard headed. If you unsnap the lead, color her GONE. Now if there's meat in area, coon at night, squirrel by day, she'll be under the tree trying her best to climb it. If no game she will go till she finds it. NO calling her in, she's acts as deaf as a door knob. Lost her one time. Stayed gone three days, then guy from bus station called me. Seems she'd got tired of looking and I owed 47.50 for her bus ride home.

Now don't go posting, telling me how to cure this not coming when called thing. It is apparently bred into her DNA cause I've tried it all. You got one of two choices with it. Hunt her or sell her, simple as that.
