Post subject:  Any ideas?

I looked but didnt find this in any other posts. If there is another section please let me know.
I have a 5 month old redbone female. I have had her for 3 months and cannot get her to quit this. She is a quick learner and listens well but when she gets excited she pees. When I call her to me she pees. She will come running all happy like but when she sits at my feet she pees a little. Any ideas how to break this habit. I would like to be able to let her in the house now and then to play with the kids but wife gets mad when it happens on her floors. Any help greatly appreciated.

She is a PUPPY......She she should grow out it. Though some dogs get excited and pee even when grown. There is nothing you can do to break that habit.

Thanks. Had many pups over the years but never one that peed when excited. My first hound, and just trying to get family to like her too.

Do not discipline her or correct her. This is a sign of submission, build her trust and confidence, and she will grow out of it. In dog language this is consider a gift.

Good glad to hear... I know in most cases its usually when someone is greeted that this happens. I would personally try to curb her excitement. By working on keeping her calm during these greetings and keeping her exercise up.
Don't let people show her affection until she has calmed down. Once she learns that she should become calm, relatively quick, curbing the issue.

Petting will reinforce her excitement.

X2 and a chainlink fence yard out the backdoor where she can eventually spends more time out than in will help . More time out than in equals more times out than in Peein on the floor. " Dogs , "Bees with Dogs" is what my Black buddy had to say about that.

i dont know how you could break her from that, but have you tried letting your kids play with the dog outside before you bring her in.after playing with the kids outside she might not be as excited seeing your kids in the house after the played a while.

She lives outside in a fenced yard when I am home and the kennel when I go to work. My oldest (2 yrs) helps me feed her and lets her out or puts her up with me most of the time. He is a bit shy of her because she jumped on him a few times when we first brought her home. Doesn't seem to matter if she is fresh or worn out or even just drained her bladder. Usually it is just a few drops but sometimes seems like a cup full.

Yep , especially when it is still warm and the pup does not have full bladder control. Or NOT. Out side!!!!
