Ok we have been hunting everynight for the last 10 nights and every night we have treed at least 2 or 3 persimmon trees a night. their has only been one coon in the persimmon out of probley 8 or 9 trees.
But what i cant figure out is that they run track for an hour or so befor they tree insted of just comein treed like all the persimmons ive treed in the past. and we are huntin with a check dog who will not tree unless the coon is thare. even tho he is treein the simmon trees ???
what the heck is goin on?????

You need to clear this up. You say you have a check dog that won't slick, then you say they're treein' blanks. That check dog failing puzzels me. Is he in good condition? He might have worn out after running for an hour and just decided it was time to tree.

the coon either tapped the tree or the dogs are running the coon backards or if the persimmon tree is close to some other trees the coon could walked out to the other tree limbs.that the only things i can think of.dont feel bad, dogs have been treeing slick in persimmon trees as long as there been coon hunting :D .

From what ive heard, persimmons mask the coons scent. Dogs can smell where they went up but not where theyve came down
