Keep hunting him. Some will figure it out some won't he has to stretch up the tree to find out if it bailed out or not. If it is a definite slick send him on. He will either figure it out or not. Just depends on the dog. Sounds like a pretty good hound just needs more nights too put it all together.

I took him out tonight and turned him loose for a short hunt , he hunted real well , struck a track and went up the hollow , he finally sit tree as I was walking up to him I noticed he was treeing on two different trees about 10 yards apart he finally sit tree on one of them , to my surprise he had a coon in both trees , but only one was shot out!
