I have a three year old male that hunts well by himself or with others. But he does tend to leave his track and go to another dog treed (backing) even if it is several hundred yards. If he trees first you could not pry him off even if you are squalling another tree close by. How do i get him out of this backing? Thanks in advance.

Does he back up slick trees?

Some of them has been questionable, Yes. He is a pretty accurate dog hunted alone. He just loves to listen to other dogs.

I have a blue male that is almost the same way, if he is hunting and another dog opens he heads for them, But if he is already tracking one then no he stays with his own. You know funny thing tho not just any other dog I had a walker that he would not back up in fact would flat turn his nose up at him? He is weird I guess

A lot of your night hunt bred dogs will cover or check on a dog thats treed. Some will just tree because the other dogs treed..Your better dogs will check the tree. If they dont think the coons there they leave..Most of your really independent or hard headed dogs wont quit a track...Dogs with what I call BIG EARS listen to other dogs too much...LOL...This dog just might need to be hunted alone a lot more..Your better dogs are hunted alone most of the time until finnshed out...Thats really the best way to get the most out of a dog....
