so last night i took the dog out and we seen 3 coons 2 little ones and a big one so we took him up there my 10 month old pup he got a little one cornered but he just looked at it and never really did anything i was wondering what cause him to just look at it ?

im hoping to get a caged coon! so he'll get all fired up and let the coon lose and get the dog after it

I have seen dogs run from a caged coon then 6 months later try and rip the cage apart to get to them. I have also seen dogs that hated them and wasn't worth a crap hunting them.I don't pay much attention to that with a dog Guess each person is diffrent but in my opinion you probally be better off showing the dog it and dragging it around and tie up in a tree to see if it can track it first. AT 10 months the dog is old enough to take a hunting every once and a while. Good luck with it.

I had a caged coon and he's was barking like crazy on it so I let it go and it right right up a little tree and he treed it !

Got a male buletick pup doing great on drags but when he finds it hanging n the tree he just jumps at it n kinda wines a Lil for it but want bark! What should I try with him to get him to bark at it? Thanks !!

7 mths ! I'm new to coon hunting first hound to train on my on. So we both still learning

i would say wait a month or 2 and then show him a live coon my pup didnt see a live coon till he was 9 months

A lot of times it helps, if your able, to have another that will tree a drag. That usually gets em going good. Good luck!
