I got a English gyp almost 2 for the last two months has been a real knuckle head. Didn't want to hunt at all partly because I been hunting her with good dogs alot and it has not been easy for her now I am hunting her alone more.I was gonna cull her and had a talk with her last night explaining to her she better get it together. Cut her loose went in and tree first time in a while on her own second turn loose 900 yards no workable tracks. Now i am gonna keep her until after corn season. Any body had one Jack around for a while. Any suggestions on how to further her along besides just hunting her she does good at everything when she wants to.

i wouldn't hunt her while she's haf-ast trying. I'd put her up for a week or 2 then try again on a cool night. they do go thru phases sometimes. i once had a gyp was doin' real good then quit on me about the age of yours. took a couple months to come back around. she might not like you and need some head scratching and romping in back yard. after a fair probation period though... comes decision time.

After hunting pups or young dogs with nice dogs for a long time. They can get so they look pretty good. Then You start hunting the dog alone and many guys find out. There nice young dog has trouble treeing there own coon..Thats why young dogs should be hunted alone as much as possible after they start treeing coon..At least 50% of the time...... Some dogs even older broke dogs dont hunt as hard in the summertime because of the weeds....
