i have a 7 month old male red bone. we're training him to hunt & he is coming along fine. but he is a crate trained house pet as well. since we've had him he's used the same area to relieve himself. well the wife has decided she wants a flower bed in that spot. i've taken him out on a lead ( to a diiferent spot )when i know he has to go. he'll urinate anywhere but will not crap any where else. he'll stand & look around, sit down walk back & forth, lay down.......but will not crap away from his old spot. now if i have him out in the woods or anywhere but home he'll go, just not at home. i've thought about tethering him in another spot until he just can't hold it any longer. any other suggestions? guess his hormones are kicking in too as he wants to mark & hump everything in sight.

i know this must seem like a no brainer. i have tried moving some dirt & even some stools to a new spot. no go. 1st light this morning i put him on a tether cable for 2 hours in the new spot. he would not go. i gave it up because he started barking & i wanted to stay on good terms with my neighbors. we all know what a hound sounds like at 5:30 a.m.. he has always been quick to learn. he was totally house broke in 2 days. BUT there are some thing he can really be stubborn about. this issue is one of them. i guess the next move is tether him with some water nearby & leave him there until he goes.
