I've got a two year old female walker and she is coon crazy when u have the coon like ten feet away from her but other than that she just waits till my black n tan hits and trees. Most of the time she won't even tree with him. She also has her nights when she will go off and run then get the black dog running with her then she stops baying when he trees, even if she's already treed. Do u think she is scared of him? Does anyone know what's up with her? I need lots of help she is the first pup I've got to train and she's not even had a coon shot out to her. Have I waited to late for her to learn to hunt coons??

not too late, in many cases it is much easier to start an older "pup" than a young one. she's still a young dog. try hunting her by herself. do a treeing exercise with a cage coon if that is needed to get her to stick. might be some slow nights for a while, then all of a sudden she might just "click". sometimes it's just like their switch finally got turned on. some just never make coondogs, though. invest what you feel is a reasonable amount of time and work in the dog, then if you aren't satisfied, get something else.

Thanks for your help but I forgot to put that she has had two coons turned out for her and she caught them on the ground and killed them. Just the other night the black dog and sandy both treed but she treed like a 10ft perimeter around the tree and the black dog treed on one tree. The same night she treed right with the black dog. They also run on a track and then they both shut off. So I was thinking that they holed that one.
