well i have a 22 month old female. well she started doin good and goin out with other dogs opening more on tracks and treeing harder. but then she came in heat so she was up for a while. just seems like she never has had much drive. shes very gritty. if i can get her treed would it put some drive into her if i let her get almost slap eat up by the coon since shes gritty. or would that hurt her. should i give up?? any info is appreciated.

she was 9 months when i got her she would bark at a cage coon. she was about 14 months old when she opened on a track. i have turned her behind some cage coons and sometimes she did good sometimes not. but i havent knocked alot out to her because she hasnt treed alot ive knocked almost every one she treed that i could find. she hasnt been trashy at all. never treed a opossum or anything besides a coon.

Well you hit me with a variable, watchin the other dogs get rewarded may cause her to get possesive over the coon. But if she is millin around not at the tree i would never let he get in on the action if she didnt tree.Im no dog trainer just passin on tips that were passed on to me.

Some dogs take longer to get going than others..Working a dog alot on cage coon will just mess up most dogs ..Try chaining her back at every tree until shes treeing really good..Most dogs that make keepers need very few coon shot out to them to get them treeing...
