Yes it's pretty hard hunting down in south Texas with the snakes javalinas cactus gators and the heat. I think the hardest thing for me is watching my dog struggle because of the extreme drought we are under. I have heard it takes a really good dog to locate coons in these conditions.

If you have a dog that is consistent with treeing coons and can take the heat, that a coon dog. I don't have one. I want one, but don't have the time to go thru hundred dogs to get one. Can't afford to buy one. Most people think that a $1000 bill should buy you a dog like that. Most of the time you're just buying other dog, not something special.
