I was looking to get the opinion of some of you more experienced guys out there. My pup is 9 months old and I am just now in the market for a dog box. Up until this point, the pup has rode in the cab of the truck with me, either in the front seat, or the back seat. He loves the truck and going for rides, but he has never stepped foot in a dog box. He is used to being confined to small area's though, I crate trained him as a puppy, and he sleeps in his crate every night. I just bought a brand new pick up and now that he is getting bigger I really want to keep him out of the cab as much as possible. I have read Wick's books and I have a good idea how to go about getting him in the box and feeling comfortable. But do you guys think that I will have a harder time getting him accustomed to the box since he has been riding in the cab for the past 6-7 months?

Thanks

If he was crate trained and sleeps in a crate every night, then you shouldn't have any issues as a dog box is really no different than a crate.

Hide a few hot dog pieces in the box and he'll learn to prefer the box. Make sure you don't have him with a food dominate dog if you go that route. It's also a good way to teach them to jump in the box on their own.
