If your hunting the dog alone. He gos out and hunts for a while then trees.Chances are hes silent..Treeing is the real hard part.. Learning to run a track is something most dogs will learn alone the way...If the dog is just treeing with other dogs.Chances are he just following them and treeing .. A lot of dogs will do that. They do the least possible to get the coon .Most guys call them me-too dogs.....

My dog is doing just like yours. I think it has to do with experience but I don't know. What does everybody else think?

Watch and see if he takes off with his nose in the air or on the ground and you can see if he is silent trailing. you can tell when a dog hits a sent and trails it even if he doesn't bark. Try roading him in front of your truck and you will see him take off the road when he hits a track.

I wouldn't give up just yet. As long as he is doing something an YOU can see something then continue running him hard as possible!

I had a female I got yrs ago an she was no pup an did nothing!!! I worked her an worked her, she started catching on, but not all the way. one my fellow hunting buddies kept telling me to dispose of her, she'd never be anything. Now for the past yr she has turned into such a hound he talks her up like gold( swares I'd never let her go,etc) She was a silent trailer also, but she now has a deep bawl on track an wide open fast bawl on tree.

Sorry blabbing on, it just takes some hounds longer or diff strocks for it to click. But don't give up with out hard training first. SHE got non stop long nites in woods for 30 days straight an she is GREAT now.

GOOD Luck hope he turns for you.
