the best stuff i made was with the buck jam and i have not made any after that one of those blocks is still in the shape of a block i did not use any water. i had some feeders along the river but when it floods or someone find them they are gone.

4 cups sugar
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
put all into a pan and bring to a boil. useing a candy thermometer bring to 300 deg. about 20 to 30 min.
at this point put in what ever you want.
ive used 1 qt of cracked corn or 1 qt of corn/dog food ground up. the key is only 1 qt per mix.
it will make a 2 qt block.
I also put in 1 tablespoon of Vanilla extract and I have been using two of those little cups of grape flavored crystal light right before I pour into the mold. I just put in a hook to hang it from a tree.
This works well but if its real hot or it rains alot it will melt them down..

i screwed up and let mine boil over, got that crap all in my brand new stainless steel sink, thank god hot water dissolves it after about an hour of spraying it with hot water from the lil sprayer beside my faucet, and to what was on my floor, counter, cabinets, MY HAND! it had dry and scraped off, with a case knife! yeah it was a ruff night tonight, but as the old saying goes $#!+ happens! and i paid the price big time! that stuff is a big gooey mess!

I make sugar syrup all the time to feed to my bees. do your wife & yourself a favor. buy a big pot at a flea market & a hot plate & do this outside or in your workshop. no matter how careful I was there was always some type of residue on the stove. happy wife = happy life.
