I was wondering if breaking scents are any good, and what's the best way to use them. i think my pup bumped a fox twice, and since i cant get a live fox, i thought about tryin scents to break him from it.
thanks,chris..

i dont know much about them but i beleive theyre to be sprayed in and around to the doghouse and bedding, on his head and ears, and some attach a rag on his/her collar soaked with the scent so the dog eventually gets sick and tired of the scent.

thanks, ItsOlMander. we used to use a live fox or bobcat to break them with but in ga you cant have either one anymore. ( game and fish took a buddy's of mine foxe's and gave him a big find for having them. so i figure i'd try scents if they work.
chris...

i had a walker dog that liked coyotes for a little bit but if you find one dead on the road or shoot you one and hook it to the other end of his lead and put a shock collar on the dog and everytime he even looks in its generaL DIRECTION YOU SHOCK HIM REAL GOOD AND KEEP ON TILL IT STOPS IT USUALLY ONLY TAKES ONE SETTING AND THEY DONT WANT NO PART OF A COYOTE EVER AGAIN CAUSE THEY THINK IT CAUSED THE PAin AND IT ONLY TAKES ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO DO

Breaking scents will only help you from breaking the dog from chasing a bottle of breaking scent! They simply DONT work. There's no substitute to the real thing. get yourself a fresh kill (or roadkill) and go to correcting with a shock collar.

only thing i have a hard time about with breaking scents is that you can smell them. and a dogs sense of smell is WAY better than mine so i just dont see how it could work...but i have also heard good reports about them. i dont think i would use them. as said above you cant beat the real thing......keith

I just received my Bottle of Breaking Scent from Bill Boatman Dog Supply. Ive been using it for the past 3 days and my Dog already hates it when I walk towards him with the bottle. So I think its doing its job. Im going to give it another week or 2 and not hunt him. Ill let you know how it works.

Has any body ever used timothy's deer breaking scent? If so does it work, and what's the best way to use it? Thanks.

why would you need to, there are deer around everywhere and you can see them in the daytime in herds.Real hides are the best and maybe a tarsle gland for the deer rut.
