I was wondering if anyone here has tried the tagg system with they're hunting dogs. It seems like a pretty good deal and theres a mobile app so you can use your phone instead of carrying one more thing out into the woods. Www.pettracker.com

It's a system similar to the RoamEo GPS that is designed for PETS. You set up a geofence for these systems.

The Tracker GPS system* I fielded tested a few years back ran an actual long range GPS collar with the tracking software built for tracking the GPS long range that was used on a Moibile phone. True GPS like Garmin.

*After SportDog took over Tracker USA, the Tracker GPS release plans were nullified.

The Tagg zone system has a minimum radius of 75 yards and a maximum radius of 1000 yards. This system is for pets. If you are wanting a GPS system for a hunting dog, your only real choices are Garmin and SportDog.

From what it sounds like, that feature is so you get a notifications if your pet leaves your property, then it tracks it after that based on gps

That is where the geofence comes into play -- that is where the zone range comes into play.

If your hunting in your backyard (property) then the system would work. If you hunting in the woods, then buy a Garmin or SportDog.

This system is for a pet that you set up the geofence on your property or go camping and set up a geofence.

Here is something else to consider....Don't just look at the PRICE......Look at the marketing for the device, who are they marketing? Look at the reviews on the site, look at who the reviewers are...............PET PEOPLE.

Hey it's only $99.95 and $7.95 a month for the service. Try it out and give us a review on it.

I was seriously thinking about getting it for my rescue dog, he has a tendency to escape and wander off. i was just wondering if anyone had tried it with their hunting dogs, and if it worked i would order an extra collar

I was looking at this also but don't believe it will work for me. It has a home range if the dog leaves this area it contacts you it has a travel mode on the collar where you can push a button so it won't go off but you have to push it every 15 minutes. I don't know how often it contacts you though if it only does it once might be ok but if it keeps contacting you at timed intervals it would be too much of a pain for me also you have a monthly bill with this service

you can take it off when you take your dog out of the "safty zone" or whatever its called. but yes its crazy you have to have a monthly subscription

I don't hunt in my yard that often so taking it off would defeat the purpose
