man save yourself a headache and get a GARMIN.

The only reason I say this is the Sport dog Tek 1.0 does not have a map card, so instead of showing you roads, creeks, etc. It just has an arrow sayin your dog is this far. The garmin shows you where he is and what he s close too, plus how you need to go if you have to drive around.

Plus, with the 320, you can get Birds eye View, Which is like Google Earth on your handheld, You can see if your dog s in a field or in the woods, etc.

whatever you choose to get, happy hunting.

Yeah we have been using garmin for quite a few years they are pretty reliable and you definatly need the map card like the other guy mentioned it takes so much guess work out of knowing where that hound is

It's kind of funny that when the SportDog Tek was just getting introduced, all the hound hunting boards were going wild with people saying that they had them pre-ordered because they hated the Garmin. What I would like to know is where are those people now? I haven't heard anyone bragging about how great they are. Save yourself the headache and get a Garmin.

I bought one as soon as the DC30 collar came out and I wouldn't give it up for anything. The biggest complaints people have with them is the range. Well it took me all of 30 seconds to figure out that if you lose reception with your collar and your hound was last 850 yds to the southeast, then drive towards the southeast and you will pick up reception again. You will also always have a ? in the last known location for you to use as a reference (possibility of the hound in a hole right where the question mark is). Another complaint is the battery life of the collar. Also took me 30 seconds to figure out. Charge the collar before every hunt, and don't quit hunting until you find your hound. Not that tough.

Just my advice though, if you are going to purchase an Astro 220, then find yourself a DC30 collar, but if you are going to get a 320, then get yourself a DC40 collar. I have been noticing the guys running the 220's with the DC40's are having problems, but very few with the 320's. Take it for what it's worth.

I am wondering if the sport dog is worth buying. I need a shock collar anyhow and why not spend a few more dollars on one that tells you what direction and distance your dog is? cabelas have them on sale for 499 now and a good shock collar is 3-400 anyhow. just want to know how many people have actually used one. thanks.

I bought the new Garmin Astro 320, I hunt in Wva and in the hollows and creek bottoms between mountains the Garmin does not get a GPS signal. If the dog gets high enough on the mountain It will suddenly start workin. If you are in rolling hills or flat terrain this would be a don't leave home without it tool you will love. My main rub is Garmin made the unit complicated and full of stuff average joe hunter will never use, I just wanna turn it on and know where my dog is, I find I don't need topo map or google earth or any of that, just tell me where the dog is, so that being said the Sport Tek may be just fine for you if you are like me. I am not pushing the sport tek though, I know nothing about it other than it is made in China so I would never buy it. I go out of my way to buy made in USA as much as possible. If american companies wanna go overseas to have their products made then let em sell to the foreigners too. Lets reward the companies who stay here and provide us with jobs.
