yes it will work just fine charging from the head with sealed gell cell battery that is the way i charged mine after changing to gellcell sealed battery. the gellcell will even hold a charge longer than the old acid filled red wheat battery.

i personaly used the nite-lite gellcell. in my earlier post on this i typed in a website for billboatmancoinc.com he is in ohio and he has great batteries to use for this swap. he has good prices and stands behind what he sells. i have done buissness with him for several years now.he was a founding member at Kenton Nationals coonhound competitions and fleamarket years ago in Kenton Ohio. search his site and if you have any questions you can call them 24hours a day and talk to a REAL person not a computer. rare to find in these times. i believe the gellcell i put in mine was 6volt instead of 4volt but i used the same charger and swapped out the battery from 4 to 6 and it worked great with the old charger. huntsmart.com is nite lite companies new web site they have good choices for you also. hope that this helps you out. john g huntsmarts phone # is 800-648-5483
