I needed a good backup light to keep on my side in case my headlight fails, so I bought a 2AA LED maglite. I am impressed to say the least! If anyone is looking for a good backup light for the price and size, this is a good one. The light has 4 modes, High, Low, Blink and SOS. On High it is advertised to run for 18 hours and on low it is advertised to run for 31 hours. On high the light can be used to spot coons, but the color is a light blue and is hard to find the coons with this color. The low beam is all that is needed to walk through the woods. It will throw a fair distance, maybe 50 yards or so. My headlight is not working right now, and I have used it on five hunts so far as my walk around light and so far it seems just as bright as the first time I took it out. The only thing that I do not like about it is that you turn the light on and off as well as switch the mode of the flashlight by rotating the head of the flashlight. A tailcap switch would be much better.

Now that I have gave my $.02. What does everyone else take with them as a back up light?

I got a AAmag, but it is not LED, had it for years and it will get you out of the woods.

I also use an AA mag light as my back up, have upgraded with a nite eyes led, it works great this way and is cheaper than buying the led model from mag light
