My 3 1/2 month old pup has what looks like puss coming from her. Otherwise she acts fine. Any thoughts on what it could be would be appreciated. Thanks, Larry.

It's as yellow as you can get. I was wondering what the dose would be for Duramycin 72-200 (oxytetracycline).

I think this is probably a urinary tract infection. Has anyone used Duramycin to clear these up?

This could be Blastomycosis. Which is what Chenoweth's Sue had and died from. This info I got from coonhound bloodlines March 09

Couldn't this be brucellosis? I know that they can get it from envirnment and mother to pups and breeding but would the pup have a discharge from this? Still learning thats why I asked

brucellosis is very very rare so rare that my vet cant rembember a test ever coming back positive and he aint the only one who told me of this ive never heard of it causeing discharge i may be wrong thou(MALES CAN CARRY IT TO BUT STUD OWNERS PREACH NEGITIVE BRUCELLOSIS TEST REQUIRED BUT NOBODY ?S THE STUD)

i just a little female swabed and tested for a series of infections theres a certain one i dont remeber the name but the discharge will look more like a yellow nasty looking snot like a sinus infection now a little yellow to the vets is clear i thought it looked like snot but they said its fine

the test came back negaitive but i say these dogs r more compilcated health wise u got to be carefull thats why i had them test her

It could be something simple like vaginitis but even that can spread internally and become serious without treatment. You really should take her to the vet. Even a urinary tract infection (usually not considered too serious) can travel to the dog's kidneys if it isn't taken care of properly. The vet can determine which type of infection it is and prescribe an antibiotic that will be the most effective for treating the infected area.

So what was the verdict, ridgerunner88? How'd it turn out? Go to the vet, she get better on her own? What'd you do?

has your dog just been recently in heat. i had a walker that got bred and 45 days in she started having dischare that look yellowish green in color thought was a uti put her on pennacillan. it was not a uti on the 3rd day she couldnt hardly walk. it ended up being pyometra. it is a uterus infection that is very serious. not saying this is what she has but should take a look at it. my female had to be spayed

I have a hound that I noticed the same thing on...

And male dogs are acting like she is starting to smell good to them..

Could this just be an early sign she is coming into heat? Or do I need to start her on penicillin.

Sounds like a possible pyometra and if it is it can be fatal within a matter of days. I am a vet tech and the Dr. I work for said that they were taught in vet school to never let the sun set on a pyometra b/c it may be to late the next day. I would suggested taking her temp. A normal dog temp is about 100, if shes running a fever at all I would take her to your vet immediately, if shes drinking more water than usual and eating less that is also a bad sign. Usually the prime time for a pyometra is around the heat cycle. The discharge is from the infection building up in the uterus and leaking out, and the easiest fix is to spay the dog.
