Post subject: | Size of dogs at a year old? |
I didn't know if I should post this in the health forum or not, but how big should my redbone's be at a year old? I have a male and a female. The male weighs around 50 pounds and my female weighs around 40 pounds. I keep seeing everyone else's dogs and they seem bigger at 8 months old than mine. Do they mature slower than other breeds or am I not feeiding them enough? |

Buckshot wrote: It could be just the fact the dog is small in size. The all time money winner in PKC probably doesn't 30lbs soaking wet. She's a very small hound. Size didn't limit her ability.
I have a hound here that nothing is wrong medically with her and she doesn't weigh 35 soaking wet. Smallest little hound I have ever owned. When she was 9 months old, I have a pup that is exactly 6 months younger than her, that he was already bigger than her when he was 3 months old. |

Don't expect your dog to be to much bigger at 2 years old compared to size at 1 years old. |

Ok thanks alot that's basically what I was wondering. They seem pretty small but that's ok because they don't take up as much room lol. |

Post subject: | Re: average puppy weight? |
Can anyone tell me what is typical weight of a redbone at about 7.5 months? I have read that full grown males are around 70lbs and 27in. Mine was 62lbs last week. I dont know how much more growing he will do, but I was wondering if that sounded about right? |

Post subject: | Re: Dog Size |
Like everyone else said, it depends on the dogs ancestry. I did a quick google search though, and according to what I found, Walkers should average between 50-70 pounds. This isn't always the case though. A friend of mine has a 9 month old walker that is bigger than his large mature Bluetick. On the other hand, I've got a 7 month old Black and Tan mix that is only around 25 pounds. It just goes to show, each dog may be larger than, smaller than, or right on the average size. |
