I tried the outdoor carpet one litter..won't ever do that again. .carpet rubbed the bottom of pups feet raw and made sores on them. ...just my experience

Got a litter of pups due in a couple weeks and has been a long time since last raised puppies. We have a good whelping box and pen built but question is What do you put in box for them to be born on ? Straw ,newspaper, shavings or what? Thanks, Jay
