i have a bunch of scrap meat, and i wanted to incorperate it into my dogs meals. but do would it be a better idea to cook it for them first or can i just give it to them raw in certain proportions?

Raw meat is healthier than cooked meat for dogs. Lots of nutrients and enzymes are destroyed when meat is cooked.

False, it is very good for your dog. It will help keep there teeth clean.
The leg bones are the best. Deer processers are happy to give them to you.

The only thing I wouldn't do about deer meat is give them a piece that still has the hair on. The other thing I won't do anymore is give them (raw) rib bones. I did that once and they tore them apart in about 5 minutes and those ribs splintered pretty bad. Didn't have that problem with any other bones.

Feeding my dogs coon meats for years, same with my dad, and uncle, just cook em in pot of boiling water let it cool down then separate bones from meat, usually cook 2 at a time, not in house unless you wanna be single, and just add some cooked coon each day to there dyed dogfood they love it, o ya I only do this in the winter months, in my outside building, everything stays good and cool that way, gotta cut back on dog food price somehow

I buy and kill and butcher an old broken down horse every fall. I grind most of it and cook it for the dogs. The rest goes in a bait pile for the wolf line. At 10 cents a pound on the hoof that old horse is sure cheap feed.

Feed mine raw meat all the time. I've feed them deer meat two or three times, but I feed them coon meat quite often. I don't cook it either. Raw meat is good for them.

Raw meat is great for them, feed mine the leftovers for years. I have never seen a problem other than ribs, front legs are real good. They seem to have fun tearing them apart.

Actually I believe they repealed the law against butchering horses in the US late last year. I remember reading about a large slaughter house looking to convert a portion of their operation to horses but that most of the meat would be exported since so many folks would raise a fuss about eating it in the US. I'd actually like to try it. I have a canadian friend who said it is pretty good, eating it for years.
