I know this is an old post but someone may have a dog with similar symptoms. I'm interested in knowing what ever happened with this dog. One of mine had something like this going on. She was one of those hounds that won't show pain until it's really bad. We'd get some distance into the woods and she'd just stop and stand completely still. If I tried to get her to move she'd hunch up a little but refused to move. I ended up carrying her back every time. I took her to our vet and she was seen by one of his associates who found nothing wrong. I know my dogs well and when the problem kept occurring I took her back and our vet found she had fractured her ulna (small bone in the leg). It didn't show in the first x-rays but time and movement made it more visible. Keeping her from running around and keeping a splint on it makes for a whole other story.
