I have a english dog that 2 1/2 years old. Seems like after the 1st drop he is done for the night. Like he just dont have the energy to hunt any more after that. Ive.been feeding the southern estates dog food the 24/20 complete. Hes been wormed regular and is on heart worm meds. What should i do try to change dog foods and see if that helps. Thanks shane

I'd ask the vet to check his heart. He may have a heart murmur or other problems preventing him from exerting himself without getting exhausted.

If the vet checks turn out ok,Be sure he checks for lyme disease, I would recommend a little raw hamburger about the size of a tennis ball each day ,they are easily frozen in individual baggies for each daily feeding ,it gets their red blood cell count up.

Adult heartworms die ,if you keep your dog on heartworm med for six months (Ivomectin) 1 CC per month or less they will die off the wormer kills the youngun heartworms and the others age out (die of old age )

Glad to hear your dog is doing better. Haven't had much problems with my hounds running out of energy, but I have a border collie that I do agility with, and he was losing energy fast at classes and shows. He would start off speeding and by the end he was walking the course. I put him and my hounds on the C9 Performance vitamins, and have fed them Diamond hi-energy or Retriever hi-protein dog foods, and all four of my dogs (the border and my three coonhounds) have all seemed to pick up energy, and keep it going. Their coats also are all really nice and shiny now too. I know a border collie is totally different than a coonhound, but all four of mine live together and eat together, and I have noticed a strong positive turn around in all of them.
