There are so many strains of parvo it is quite possible to have a properly vaccinated dog still get parvo. It's like flu shots for people. They contain the most common flu strains going around in your area but won't protect you from the other strains of flu.

You are right, I normally vaccineate MT dogs my self and by my vaccines from my local feed store when I took him to the vet, the only vaccines that are up to date with all the different strains are at you local vets
